The Bird is on the Table

Pablo Picasso, Chouette, Vallauris, 1968

Birds were a favorite theme of many Mid-Century decorative artists, especially potters,
and I agree with them that modernist aesthetics and bird forms are a marriage made in heaven.
Here's an assortment of my own favorites from various pottery studios
and ceramic factories around Europe.

Chelsea Pottery plate by Joyce Morgan, 1960s, via Mid Mod Mom

Lisa Larson for Gustavsberg

Two Ceramic Vases and a cup by Roger Capron, Vallauris, 1950-1960

Dish with bird motif and bottle from the Baca range by Nils Thorsson,

Henry Clante, bird vessels, Denmark, via Freeforms and Mid-Centuria

Salt & Pepper shakers by John Clappison for Hornsea, via Mid-Centuria and robmcrorie

Lucite dove by Abraham Palatnik, 1960s, via The Wallpaper Files

Plates by Cuno Fisher, 1961, and Marianne Johnson, 1969, via Art of Vintage
